Winner for three Bridge Awards at the 2014 Southern Home and Garden Gala, The Veranda Home project was converting a 2,200 square-foot two-story, traditional home into a 4,100 square-foot split-level, three-story craftsman-style home. The architectural design captures numerous craftsman-style details, including exterior rafter tails and cedar corbels and interior exposed trusses and tongue-and-groove ceilings. Nichiha shakes and fibercement siding cover the exterior. Floors are milled from antique heart pine reclaimed from Savannah Harbor. The baths are laid in Italian marble. Numerous “green” features include Icynene insulation, tankless water heaters, and high efficiency HVAC systems. The finishing touches are completed with the addition of a custom designed 250 square-foot treehouse, making the The Veranda Home, something for all the family.
