Striking Façade, Inviting Interiors

The Glas Haus earns its unique name from its striking glass front façade. On the first level, large windows provide sweeping views of a beautifully landscaped terrace, featuring cozy sitting areas, lush gardens, a grand fire pit, a grilling porch, and elegant decorative retaining walls. Above, a second-floor balcony offers a peaceful outlook onto the adjacent park. Inside, the home boasts polished concrete terrazzo floors on the main level, while the upper floor features warm, natural white oak. A custom floating staircase, designed by Heirloom Companies, serves as a stunning focal point. The spacious kitchen flows seamlessly into the dining and living areas, creating an open, inviting space. A dedicated working pantry, designed to function as a catering kitchen, ensures culinary needs are met with ease and organization. Throughout, the home reflects the best of modern architecture in Upstate SC—thoughtfully planned, beautifully executed, and tailored to elevate everyday living.

JAMES SPEER
PARTNER, CUSTOM HOME BUILDER

After earning a Construction Science and Management degree from Clemson University, James spent several years in commercial construction with Beers-Skanska. He became a licensed general contractor in 1999. James has served as president of the Home Builders Association of Greenville. He was also named Builder of the Year in Greenville in 2018.

In 2002, James founded Speer Homes, a highly sought-after custom home building and remodeling company in Orlando, Florida. In 2012, James and his wife Barbra decided they wanted to make Greenville home for their family and joined the Carsons in creating CarsonSpeer.

During his tenure at Speer Homes, James developed a philosophy of limiting the number of homes he would build each year. In this way, he could devote personal attention to every project. It’s a philosophy James and Steve share today.
